DIY: DENIM SLIDE SANDALS

If you're looking for a fun weekend DIY project, this is it. Since you're probably doing a little Spring cleaning, we figured it's the perfect way to reuse a tired old pair of jeans and sandals.

Hello, Denim Slides. And hey, now you have room for new stuff!

WHAT YOU NEED
An old pair of jeans
Slide sandals
Scissors
Glue gun
Measuring tape
Chalk

STEP 1
Cut the legs off your jeans. Then, cut along the seams of each leg to open them up. Each leg will be the fabric for each sandal.

STEP 2
Roughly measure your sandals from one side of the sole to the other (leave a bit of space along the bottom edge of each sole). You're going to cover the entire sandal in denim.

STEP 3
Trace around the entire sandal, and add about 1 inch extra. You can cut off the excess denim as you glue it down. Better to have too much than not enough!

STEP 4
Put your denim through the sandal. You should have a bit of excess denim on every side.

STEP 5
Start gluing it down, bit by bit! This process should take about 10 to 15 mins - make sure you do it carefully.

Trim the excess denim with scissors as you go along.

STEP 6
Repeat the same process for the top part of the sandals.

Psst: For the first sandal, use denim from the legs + for the second sandal, try using a piece from the waist!

DONE!

MUSIC MONDAY: FESTIVAL ARTISTS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Finding a new artist to obsess over is the best feeling ever, and what better place to look for new music than the lineup for your fave festival? You don't have to attend a fest to enjoy some of the most lit music the festival scene has to offer.

So whether you're kicking it with the squad in your backyard, or dancing your heart out in the middle of the desert, here are three festival artists that you should definitely start listening to, like, rn.

FATHER JOHN MISTY
You may have heard of Father John Misty. He's an indie rock, folky, singer-songwriter, and he's been around for a few years now. He's also contributed to albums for queen Bey, Lady Gaga, and Kid Cudi. So you know he's legit.

GLASS ANIMALS
These guys are all about indie electronic + psychedelic pop. They're not new to the festival circuit, but they're definitely at the top of our list of must-listens.

DJ SNAKE
DJ Snake might be a name you recognize because of his collabo with Bieber for Let Me Love You (it's no secret that we love the Biebs around here... ahem). DJ Snake also produced Lil Jon's Turn Down for What. You know it.

10 WAYS TO SPRING CLEAN YOUR INSTA FEED

Nobody likes Spring cleaning. It's at the bottom of the list, alongside wearing your retainer and writing your final exams. Nothing is fun about vacuuming under your bed and throwing away the hoard of papers in your everything-drawer.

What is fun, is Spring cleaning your Instagram feed. And reaching those Insta-babe standards is easier than you think.

Here's how you can have the perfect profile:

1 - UNFOLLOW PEOPLE
Start the process with some brutal honesty. If they aren't following you back, or you never look at their account, it's time to say bye.

2 - CURATE WITH COLOR THEMES
The coolest and (not surprisingly) prettiest Insta accounts are the ones that use color themes. This doesn't mean if you post pastel pink, you have to do it forever, tho. You can create "blocks" of color that change when you want.

3 - CREATE YOUR OWN TRADEMARK FILTERS
Consistency is beyond important here. If you want to be memorable, you have to have your own "brand." Creating and saving a trademark filter you can apply to every photo is a mucho good idea.

4 - USE CONTENT MANAGEMENT APPS
You can use apps that will help you schedule and curate your feed, like UNUM. It means you don't aaalways have to be hovering on your phone, but you know your feed will be maintained.

5 - CHOOSE YOUR PICS WISELY
If your pic is blurry, or it doesn't go with your theme, don't use it. It's that simple.

6 - DELETE PICS THAT DON'T WORK
If you're over it, don't be afraid to delete old stuff that doesn't look cute anymore. If the colors no longer flow, if the pic is too dark, or if it's blurry, delete it. For a curated feed, you might have to start fresh.

7 - STOP NEGLECTING YOUR CAPTIONS
A cute pic might get some likers, but a cute caption will get people coming back to your feed more often. Nothing says, "i rly dnt care" like a lazily written caption.

8 - CHECK YOUR BIO
Your bio is a great place to let people know what you're currently up to. It's also a huge giveaway about who maintains their feed regularly and who doesn't.

9 - USE HASHTAGS WISELY
Using a hashtag isn't just for fun. It's how Instagram categorizes and organizes topics. Duh. Good hashtags can help you get visibility on a pic for sure, but they can also ruin your caption if there are too many. So find that balance.

10 - BE YOURSELF
Most importantly, your pics on Insta should rep who you are! Make sure your feed is genuine and unique by adding (or taking away) stuff that shows people who you are and what makes you stand out.

MUSIC MONDAY: SPRING EQUINOX

ICYMI, today is - finally - the first official day of Spring. It may still be chilly, and you probably still need a jacket, but soon there will be flowers in bloom. And then more flowers. And then less snow. And, just, yes.

Put on your favorite hoodie, open a window and breathe in the Spring air. Freshness level 100.

Just add tunes and you're set for day one of Spring 2017.

HOW TO: AVOID FESTIVAL BURNOUT

Picture this: You're dancing in a field with friends, the sun is shining down on you, the music is lit, and you're having the time of your life.

But then, you're hangry, you're thirsty, your feet hurt. You have a sunburn. Omg. Where's the nearest bathroom?

It's an experience that so many new festival goers go through. Partying at a festival with your squad is by far one of the raddest experiences you'll ever have, but it won't be any fun if you burn out.

Luckily for you, we've got your back.

EAT
Festival food is beyond. Tacos, Pizza, Ice Cream, Pad Thai... drool. Even if you're hot, don't forget to eat. Otherwise you'll crash hard.

DRINK WATER
No, really. Drink water. Never run out of water. Carry your own water bottle, and refill it every chance you have.

LAYER UP
Believe it or not, it can chilly at night even if its hot during the day. If you're at Coachella, we suggest covering your face with a bandanna too. Because sand storms. And for goodness sake, wear practical footwear instead of open toe sandals.

WEAR SUNSCREEN
Slather on that SPF. While you're at it, wear a  hat and sunglasses too. In 40 degree heat, sun stroke is a very legit possibility, and it'll kill your vibe pretty fast.

PACE YOURSELF
You don't have to see every single act. Make note of your fave artists and what stages they're at, and then take time to rest in between. Enjoy the scenery, kick it with your gurls, even take a nap.

No matter what, you're gonna have a hella good time at any fest you head to this summer. Just make sure to take care of yourself and not burn out.
Cause you can't watch Father John Misty from the medic tent.

HOW TO: GET THROUGH THE REST OF WINTER

"Hello, Spring? ARE YOU THERE?!" *panic* ...the all-too-familiar warble of desperation in your voice, as you peek outside and notice it snowed again. Blurg.

Welcome to March. If you're anything like us, you're probably 100% thirsty for Spring by now. You might even be having an existential crisis.

But don't worry. There are a bunch of winter activities you can do with the squad to pass the time.

EAT GOOD FOOD
If you're lucky enough to live in a province that produces Maple Syrup, head to your local Sugar Shack rn. You can only do it at the end of winter, so get in there.

GET OUTSIDE
Be honest, you haven't seen the sun in a few months. Go for a walk or a hike + take some pics. You need vitamin D.

PLAN A VACAY WITH YOUR SQUAD
There are still a couple of weeks left of spring break, so plan a vacation with your gurls if you can get away. If not, start planning the perfect summer getaway. It'll give you something to look forward to.

START SPRING CLEANING
Get ready for the warmer months by doing your Spring cleaning now. Sort through your tired winter clothing and make some room for fresh new styles. It'll keep you motivated!

BE SOCIAL
Finally, don't underestimate the importance of being social. Cause, honestly, the only way you can get through anything is with your gurls by your side. Even if you don't feel like going out, nothing beats hanging on the couch with friends + having a Netflix binge.

WOMAN CRUSH WEDNESDAY: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Today is International Women's Day. It's an important day for babes everywhere. It's a day to reflect on all the positive and powerful women in your life.

As it so happens, it's also Woman Crush Wednesday. So today, we're crushing on women everywhere.

There are some noteworthy young babes we think are worth a mention today, though. These powerful peeps are out there making an impact, and showing us just how to speak our truths.

Here are 9 boss babes who are each making their own statement about body positivity, leadership, feminism, and more.

It's important to know that we can all make an impact no matter who we are. In honor of International Women's Day, the Ardene Foundation hosted an event on March 7 to show support and solidarity to women in our home town of Montreal, Canada. Between this year and last year, the Foundation will have donated close to $200,000 in merchandise to support its International Women’s Day initiatives!

Ardene may be all fun, fashion and good vibes most of the time, but we stand behind our gurls.

We believe in the power of women + think we should build each other up instead of tearing each other down.

MUSIC MONDAY: 90's MUSIC YOU NEED TO KNOW

Throwback playlists are everything. Maybe it's because each musical era has its own vibe, and each genre captures something different about how you're feeling. The 70's had disco and funk, the 80's had dance and glam metal, and the 90's had hip hop, alt rock, and grunge.

And ok, maybe we're a little biased toward the 90's...

As your weekend fades into the past, turn up the retro music, put on your fave chokers, crop tops, and florals, and channel your inner 90's babe. You won't regret it.

TRENDING NOW: SNEAKERS

Street style has seriously made its mark on the fashion world, giving tons of cred to casual footwear and athletic apparel.

Sneakers are everything now. You can wear your sneaks to class, but you can also wear them out with the gurls later. You can rock a pair with a skirt or dress if you feel like looking polished... but also comfy. The sneaker trend is a serious win for anyone who has ever gotten sore feet from a long night in heels.

With Spring fast approaching, it's high time to plan all the ways you can kick it in kicks... and there are like a bajillion ways.

Spring Break is in full swing. For those of you who migrated south for the holiday, the sun is out, the beach is calling your name, and there are a million adventures to be had.

Go for a drive with the top down, dig your feet into the sand, wander on the boardwalk with the squad...  Life is hella good.

But of course no vacay is complete without a soundtrack, so turn it up. ๐Ÿ‘‡

BEHIND THE SCENES: GAL'ENTINE'S DAY BRUNCH

ICYMI, we hosted a Gal'entine's Day Brunch for our main #ardenebabes. We wanted to hang with our gurls and actually meet some of them face to face for the very first time! Let's just say, they are even more beautiful, inside & out, than we could have ever imagined.

In true Ardene style, we ate brunch (hello, maple pepper bacon), had our auras read, hand crafted love potions, and of course, we DIY'd some tees; yeezy style. We gave away some serious Rose + Vine swag, bodysuits, and cool basics from our latest collection. All the ingredients for perfectly layered outfits + the perfect day.

Check it out.
