STAYCATION DAY 5: HOW TO HOST THE BEST NYE PARTY

1 - DECORATE WITH A PHOTO GARLAND
Show your squad you love them with a year-in-review of your friendship (aw!) by decorating with pics of you guys together.

YOU NEED
String
Photos
Clothespins
Seed lights (optional)

Cut a piece of string to fit as many photos as you want. Using clothespins, attach the pics.

Hang the garland as decoration anywhere you want!

2 - MAKE COLORED MOCK-TAILS
Every good party needs a signature drink, and this Faux-jito with colored ice is boss.

Use the different colors to differentiate everyone's drinks! Cute and practical = win-win.

YOU NEED

FOR THE DRINKS
(makes 5-6 drinks)

10 sprigs of mint
5-6 Limes
1L Lemon-Lime Soda
Paring knife
Glass mugs
Straws

FOR THE ICE CUBES
Ice cube tray
Food coloring
Time in the freezer

We suggest pre-mixing your colors in seperate bowls to be sure you get the color/opacity you want. Mixing straight up food coloring in such a tiny bit of water will make your ice cubes mucho dark...So pre-mixing is the way to go.

Then...CAAAAREFULLY spoon fill each cube. You'll wanna do this the night before so they freeze completely.

The night of the party, slice your limes and crush your mint. Divide evenly among glasses. Fill each with lemon-lime soda.

Add colored cubes and straws!

3 - FUN PROPS
When the ball drops, you'll wanna be taking memorable pics. Photo booth props are where it's at.

4 - THE PERFECT OUTFIT
Let's not forget to plan the most important part... your NYE look.

Need inspo? See our post about What to Wear to Your NYE Party.

Happy new year, babe!

STAYCATION DAY 4: GIFTABLE GOOD VIBES PERFUME

The new year is a time to turn a new leaf and start things fresh. Why not create an aura of positivity by making a giftable good vibes spray for your friends + fam?

There are lots of essential oils that dispel negativity. For this one, we chose:

Lavender = Clears out negative energy. It's also relaxing, and promotes feelings of positivity.
Peppermint = Helps clear tension and relieve fatigue.
Citrus = Energizing and calming. Promotes a feeling of peace.

YOU NEED
Glass or plastic spray bottle
Water
Lavender essential oil
Orange essential oil
Peppermint essential oil
Dry lavender flowers
Ribbon

STEP 1
Fill the bottle almost to the top with water

STEP 2
Add peppermint, lavender, and orange essential oils. We suggest 5 drops of each.

STEP 3
Add lavender flowers for decoration.

STEP 4
Put on the lid + tie it up with a ribbon and some extra lavender.

Done!

There you have it. These are super easy to put together, and make really cute gifts to ring in the new year!

STAYCATION DAY 2: HOST A CLOTHING SWAP

The holidays wouldn't be complete without a few acts of selflessness.

There are so many people in need, and donating clothing isn't just a nice thing to do... it's the right thing to do. Plus, after all that amazing new stuff you got, your closet will thank you.

The Ardene Foundation gives back to the community in many ways throughout the year. Here's how you can too.

HOST A CLOTHING SWAP

- Invite your friends to gather all the clothes they don't wear anymore + host a girls' night in. Everybody brings their stuff.

- Set up a rolling rack and sort everyone's clothing by type. Bottoms with bottoms and tops with tops, etc.

- Then, try everything on + trade with each other!

- When you're done, gather all the stuff that's left over, and put it in a big plastic bag.

- Find your local Goodwill or Salvation Army and drop off the haul.

It's such a good feeling to give back to the community. Plus, you'll have tons of good vibes and karma going into the new year. Not a bad place to start.

How did your clothing swap go? Share your story in the comments.
